Thank You to everyone who got involved in this effort to make sure everyone in Baton Rouge remembers, The Citizens Are In Charge!

Tina Manzella and I released the following statement to the press July 1st.
Yesterday was an outstanding day for the voters of Louisiana, our voices were heard in Baton Rouge and our sentiments prevailed with the veto of the legislative pay raise. This veto is a victory for the Governor, the Legislature as well as the citizens of this State. It has been a difficult three weeks for many of us. We felt the governor and legislative leadership we had such high hopes for and whom have accomplished so much good this year were ignoring the voters and inparticular their base supporters. Today we feel we can put this pay raise episode behind us and help Governor Jindal, Speaker Tucker and Senate President Chaisson move Louisiana forward in a bi-partisan manner.
To that end we will shift our focus towards the newly formed non-partisan Taxpayers Union of Louisiana , recently formed with a grant from the National Taxpayers Union . The Taxpayers Union will coordinate with the thousands of registrants and volunteers from the various websites and recall efforts and invite them to become more proactive in making our voices heard when important legislation opposed by the public is under consideration at the State Capital. We look forward to giving our input into the legislative pay issue and working out a plan during the next regular session that recognizes the hard work of legislators, but also respects the wishes of the voters.
We thank the legislators who stated they realized a mistake was made and we especially thank Governor Jindal for giving us the veto we wanted.
